In March 2022, Lou launched Lulu Beauty Sunshine Coast and since then, has been involved with over 100 weddings and photoshoots in the Hinterlands.
Hi, I’m Lou, the face behind Lulu Beauty Sunshine Coast.
My love for hair and makeup began long before it became my career. Growing up immersed in the performing arts, I was always fascinated by how hair and makeup could transform not only how someone looked, but how they felt. As a teenager, I was the one experimenting with different looks on friends before dance concerts and special events, simply because I loved it.
That passion naturally grew into a little side business while I was running my own dance school in Brisbane and studying Primary Education at Queensland University of Technology. After graduating, I spent six wonderful years teaching at a beautiful small primary school. I genuinely loved my career and never imagined leaving it.
Then life took an unexpected turn.
When COVID arrived and I fell pregnant with my first daughter, my husband and I found ourselves rethinking everything. We longed for a slower pace of life, more time together, and a community where we could raise our family. In 2022, we sold our Brisbane home and moved to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland to begin a new chapter.
Like many mums, I struggled with the idea of placing my daughter in childcare so I could spend my days caring for other people’s children. It was a difficult decision, but one that ultimately led me back to the creative passion I’d always loved. I took a leap of faith, left my permanent teaching position, and in March 2022, Lulu Beauty Sunshine Coast was born.
Since then, I’ve had another gorgeous baby girl AND had the privilege of being part of more than 100 weddings and photoshoots throughout the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Along the way, I’ve also had the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with incredibly talented artists, including Martin Bray, lead makeup artist for The Voice and Dancing With The Stars, experiences that have helped shape my artistry and attention to detail.
Today, I combine the creativity I discovered through hair and makeup with the patience, organisation, and genuine care I developed as a teacher. My brides often tell me they feel like they’re getting ready with a friend, someone who keeps the morning calm, organised, and enjoyable while creating timeless hair and makeup that still feels like you.
Every bride is different, and that’s exactly how it should be. Rather than following trends, I create refined, elegant looks that complement your natural beauty, photograph beautifully, and last from your first look to the final dance.
It is such a privilege to be trusted with one of the most important mornings of your life, and I can’t wait to be part of yours.
